Dudley Knight and Philip Thompson are pleased to announce that they will offer an inaugural three-week Teacher Certification program in Knight-Thompson Speechwork in July 2012. The dates are Monday, July 9 through Friday, July 27. The program will be held at Chelsea Studios, at 151 West 26th Street in New York. Sessions will take place five days a week, Monday through Friday. Sessions will run from 10:00AM to 5:30PM.

While day-to-day details of instruction remain to be finalized, the purpose of the Certification is to make sure that its participants possess:
- A thorough understanding of the Knight-Thompson approach to speech training.
- A thorough knowledge of the International Phonetic Alphabet and an ability to use it effectively in teaching.
- A thorough understanding of the Knight-Thompson approach to the methodology of accent training.
- An ability to use research resources for accent acquisition productively.
- A demonstrated ability to teach this material effectively and with full understanding.
- A demonstrated ability to use this approach creatively in teaching.
The emphasis in the Certification program will be on individual development and all participants will receive substantial individual attention and mentoring. Participation in the Certification program does not guarantee certification: in some cases we may require additional work to demonstrate understanding and teaching skill. We remind you that admission to the Teacher Certification program is open only to participants who have already taken both the "Experiencing Speech" and the "Experiencing Accents" workshops. We recommend also that prospective participants in the Teacher certification program have some experience incorporating this approach in their own teaching before going on to Certification.
After the 2012 Certification program, the next available Certification will take place in July 2014.
Workshop Costs
The enrollment fee for the Certification is $3000.00.A deposit of $500.00 to reserve a place in the group should be made by May 15, 2012 with full payment by June 25. The deposit, less $25 handling fee, is refundable until July 1.
No refunds thereafter. You will receive your receipt at the Certification.
